The Undergraduate Nursing Program

The mission adopted by the Nursing Department of Doğuş University is to train knowledgeable, inventive, and qualified nurses acting as leaders in responding to people’s health needs and elevating the profession of nursing.

The vision adopted by the Nursing Department of Doğuş University is to establish a science-oriented community of highly competent students, instructors and academicians who are distinguished with the following qualities:

Possessing a personalized ethos of nursing,

  • Creating a learning atmosphere where knowledge is constructed and shared,
  • Responding to the ever-changing health needs of individuals, families, communities, and society in general,
  • Pioneering in professional development.

The Objectives of the Undergraduate Nursing Program

  • To train its undergraduates through approaches with which they can take the key responsibilities for providing the services of assistance, protection, treatment, and rehabilitation as competent nurses of future,
  • To train nurses who can take independent decisions in emergency cases where nursing is needed; protect the health care rights of the individuals or groups needing health support, provide nursing services for public health at hospitals and conduct research studies in the field of nursing practice.
  • The graduates are expected to take the roles of an educator, an instructor, or a leader in clinical settings/settings where public health practice is needed.

The Outcomes of the Undergraduate Nursing Program

A nurse who has graduated from the Undergraduate Nursing Program can:

  1. make use of the knowledge gathered within the scope of physiological, biological, and behavioral sciences during the health care and nursing processes provided for individuals, families, and communities,
  2. give the assurance that he/she thoroughly understands the factors influencing the health status and lifestyles of individuals and communities,
  3. give nursing care based on the procedural nursing services by coordinating with individuals and groups of people,
  4. display roles as a decision maker and abilities as a critical thinker in cases where qualified care is to be provided,
  5. avail himself/herself of the latest approaches and technologies while providing health care,
  6. provide supportive, protective, and rehabilitative health care services in accordance with national health policies and programs,
  7. use appropriate application standards, by considering the legal boundaries, within the remit of ethical and professional rules of conduct,
  8. form effective communications with individuals, families, communities of people and the members of health care teams by ensuring the efficiency of interpersonal relations and taking actions with teamwork consciousness,
  9. make his/her training abilities evident to individuals and groups of people in clinical settings/settings where public health practice is needed,
  10. actively participate in health care providing system as a member of a health care team,
  11. make his/her leadership and management skills evident in clinical settings/settings where public health practice is needed,
  12. conduct necessary research studies in various settings and benefit from the findings to improve the quality of the health care he/she provides,
  13. contribute to the field by virtue of his/her awareness of and/or interest in continually improving himself/herself and his/her profession.
